Accelerated reader programme
Accelerated Reader is an independent programme that helps students’ to improve their reading.
Students are encouraged to choose their own book from the school library and work at a pace that is suitable for them.
Once they have finished the book, pupils are encouraged to take a fun quiz based on what they have read.
Each time a pupil takes a quiz they gain points that lead to prizes at the end of term.
This program enables the English teachers and the librarian to monitor pupil’s literacy levels which then helps the English teachers set realistic targets for pupils to reach.
