Welcome to Physical Education at Heartlands Academy - an award winning department.

PE and Sport provide a firm basis for inspiring learning and the development of each individual student at Heartlands Academy. By using our Sports Specialism across the curriculum; we firmly believe that we can nurture mature, successful and established members of the local community of Nechells.  The PE Department prides itself on providing an inclusion PE curriculum and a varied Extra-Curricular program through strong commitment to providing competitive opportunities in all major sports and providing inclusive sports clubs that meet the needs of the pupils at Heartlands

Heartlands Academy is a YST Gold Partner school - an accolade we are extremely proud of in the PE department.  By achieving Partner School status we have demonstrated our commitment to maintaining and developing the highest quality outcomes for PE and sport in our Academy. 

We are continually exploring innovative opportunities through PE and Sport which will challenge, inspire and unite our multi-cultural society at Heartlands Academy - whilst maintaining the impact we have had on the whole academy thus far through our current accomplishments; creating a long lasting legacy of PE and Sport at Heartlands Academy - a pedogogy that has result in us winning a YST National Innovation Award 2011-2012 for the 'Excellent use of PE & School Sport to improve whole school standards – Secondary'.
